SGI Installation Policy

Effective July 1, 2008, initial system installation is no longer bundled with the product purchase price. Installation services are available through SGI Installation Services or an SGI-authorized Service Provider.

Post-Initial System Installation: Upgrade, Add-on and Reconfiguration

Installation and/or system reconfiguration services are not included with the purchase of any hardware upgrades and/or add-ons. Inquire with your SGI sales representative whether a particular hardware upgrade and/or add-on component purchased is customer-installable.

Hardware upgrade and/or add-on components for the following systems are customer-installable; however, installation services are strongly recommended and may be purchased as SGI Installation Services.

  • Silicon Graphics® O2®
  • Silicon Graphics Octane
  • Silicon Graphics Octane2
  • Silicon Graphics Fuel
  • SGI TP900
  • SGIconsole

Hardware upgrade and/or add-ons components for the following systems are not customer-installable; installation services must be purchased as SGI Installation Services.

  • SGI Altix family of servers and superclusters
  • All Origin series
  • All Onyx series
  • SGI storage systems
Additionally, reconfigurations (such as the physical splitting, joining of Origin or Altix family modules) must be implemented as SGI Installation Services.

* Installation shall mean: After customer's placement of SGI equipment in its final destination, SGI will unpack and assemble the SGI equipment, which, when powered on, shall run in substantial compliance with standard published specifications (if any).
